Terms of Service
Last updated: August 27, 2026
Agreement to Terms
By submitting an Applowance website form or by downloading, installing, or using Applowance ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not submit a website form or use the App. These Terms constitute a legal agreement between you and Ramses Works ("we", "us", or "our"), the publisher of Applowance.
Use of the Service
Applowance is a family screen time management app designed for parents and their children. The App allows parents to:
- Create a family group and invite children to join, by invite code or QR code
- Assign chores with screen time rewards, including recurring chores and reusable templates
- Approve or deny chore completions, and adjust a child's balance manually
- Manage app restrictions on children's devices using Apple's Screen Time frameworks, and grant ad-hoc free time
- Set up streaks and automatic bonus time, and view weekly summaries and usage reports
- On paid plans, define custom rewards and a reward store, track a monetary allowance, and review a family activity log
- Add Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets, and protect the parent dashboard with Face ID, Touch ID, or a PIN
Features vary by plan and by iOS version. Screen Time enforcement requires a physical device running a supported version of iOS; some age-assurance features require a newer iOS release than the App's minimum.
Parents are responsible for supervising their children's use of the App and for all activity that occurs under their family group. The App is intended for use by families where the parent or legal guardian has direct authority over the children in the group.
Account and Family Management
To use Applowance as a parent, you must sign in using Sign in with Apple. By doing so, you agree to:
- Provide accurate information when setting up your family
- Maintain the security of your Apple ID and any PINs you set within the App
- Accept responsibility for all actions taken under your family group
- Only add children for whom you are the parent or legal guardian
Children join a family using a 6-character invite code provided by the parent. Children do not need an Apple ID or email address to use the App.
You must be an adult, and the parent or legal guardian of the children you add, to create a family. On iOS versions that support it, the App asks Apple to confirm that the person creating a family falls in an adult age range, and will not create the family if it cannot be confirmed. If the holder of the Apple Account later withdraws consent through Apple, we will pause the affected profiles until the matter is resolved with us directly.
When you add a child or join a family, the App records your acceptance of an in-app parental consent disclosure with a version stamp so we can demonstrate which disclosure you agreed to. You may delete the entire family group and all associated data at any time from Settings > Delete Account; deletion is described in detail in our Privacy Policy.
Subscriptions and Purchases
Applowance is free to download and includes a fully functional Free tier. Optional paid tiers unlock additional features. All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store — Apple, not Ramses Works, is the merchant of record.
Tiers and pricing (US dollars; local currency may vary):
- Free: Free forever. Includes 2 child profiles and 1 parent account, plus the core chore-to-screen-time loop, Screen Time features, streaks, bonus time, templates, weekly summaries, and usage reports.
- Premium: $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year, auto-renewing. Includes everything in Free, plus unlimited children, unlimited parent accounts, custom rewards and reward store, allowance tracking, and the family activity log.
- Lifetime: $99.99 as a one-time, non-consumable purchase. Includes every current Premium feature forever, with no recurring charges. The Lifetime purchase is eligible for Apple Family Sharing.
Free trial: New subscribers to Premium monthly or annual receive a 14-day free trial. You will not be charged if you cancel before the trial ends.
Auto-renewal: Premium subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period at the price listed above, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Payment is charged to your Apple ID account. You can manage subscriptions or cancel auto-renewal at any time by opening the iPhone Settings app → tapping your name → Subscriptions → Applowance. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you retain access to paid features until then.
Plan changes: Switching between Premium monthly and Premium annual is handled by Apple through the App Store. Purchasing the Lifetime tier permanently unlocks all premium features; if you previously held a subscription, it will not automatically cancel — manage it in iPhone Settings → Subscriptions.
Refunds: All payments are handled by Apple. Refund requests are processed exclusively by Apple through reportaproblem.apple.com. Ramses Works is unable to issue refunds directly.
Account deletion does not cancel subscriptions: Deleting your Applowance account from within the App does not cancel any active App Store subscription. To stop being charged, you must also cancel the subscription in iPhone Settings → Subscriptions.
Family Sharing: Premium and Lifetime support Apple Family Sharing, so one purchase can extend premium access to the members of your Apple Family group.
Prices may change in the future. If we change subscription pricing, we will notify existing subscribers in advance through the App Store as required by Apple, and you will have the opportunity to cancel before the new price takes effect.
Public Beta (TestFlight)
Applowance is currently offered as a public beta through Apple's TestFlight. Taking part is voluntary and is subject to these Terms, together with Apple's TestFlight terms, which govern your relationship with Apple as the distributor of the beta.
- Pre-release software. Beta builds are provided for testing and evaluation. They may contain defects, may behave inconsistently, and features may change or be withdrawn before general release. Do not rely on a beta build where a failure to enforce a screen time restriction would matter to you.
- How to take part. Request an invite on our website. We add testers manually, so a request is not a guarantee of a place, and we may close the beta or remove a tester at any time.
- Builds expire. TestFlight builds stop working after a period set by Apple. Your family data is not affected and remains available when you install a later build or a released version.
- No charges during the beta. In-app purchases in a TestFlight build run against Apple's sandbox. You will not be billed, and a sandbox purchase does not create a real subscription, does not carry over to the App Store release, and gives you no entitlement to a paid plan once the beta ends.
- Your data is real. A beta build talks to the same live systems as a released build. Chores, balances, and members you create are real records, and every deletion right in our Privacy Policy applies to them unchanged.
- Feedback. If you send us feedback — through TestFlight, by email, or otherwise — you grant us permission to use it to improve Applowance without obligation or compensation to you. Do not send us anything you consider confidential or that you are not free to share.
- No warranty for beta builds. Beta builds are provided "as is", and the Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability sections below apply to them in full.
Screen Time and App Restrictions
Applowance uses iOS Screen Time frameworks, including FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity, to enforce app restrictions on children's devices. These are system-level frameworks provided by Apple. By using these features, you acknowledge that:
- App restrictions are enforced at the operating system level and may affect the child's ability to use certain apps
- The effectiveness of restrictions depends on the child's device settings and iOS version
- We are not responsible for any issues arising from Apple's Screen Time frameworks
- Screen time sessions and balances are tracked locally and synced via our cloud service
User Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' accounts or family groups
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's functionality or its underlying infrastructure
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the App
- Use the App to monitor or restrict devices of individuals who are not your children or legal dependents
User-Generated Content
Applowance allows parents and children in a family group to create content such as chore titles, reward names, notes, and member display names. We have a zero-tolerance policy for objectionable content and abusive behavior. Any content that is harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, hateful, violent, or otherwise objectionable is strictly prohibited, as is any abusive conduct directed at other users.
You can report objectionable content or abusive users directly from inside the App using the Report button available on chores (both parents reviewing pending approvals and children viewing their own chores can submit a report). Each in-app report is written to a moderation queue and triggers an alert to the Ramses Works team for review by a human — automated moderation alone is never the final word.
Moderation response: Ramses Works reviews reports promptly and takes action based on severity. Action may include removing the offending content, warning the user, deactivating their family membership, and — for repeat or severe violations — deleting the offending family group and preventing the responsible Apple account from rejoining.
If you prefer to report outside the App, or if you are unable to reach the in-app Report button, email us at applowance@ramses.works and we will route the message through the same moderation review process.
Communications
If you give us an email address through this website, we use it only to do the thing you asked for: to add you as a public-beta tester so Apple can send you a TestFlight invitation, to reply to a support or contact request, or to tell you once when Applowance reaches the App Store. These are one-off, transactional messages. We do not operate a newsletter, we will not add you to a marketing list, and we do not sell or rent your address. You can ask us to delete it at any time at applowance@ramses.works. Notifications sent by the App itself are push notifications about your own family's activity, and you can turn them off in iOS Settings.
Privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information, including specific protections for children's data under COPPA. By using the App, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.
Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, code, graphics, and content, is owned by Ramses Works and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the App.
Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that:
- The App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- App restrictions will be completely effective in all circumstances
- Data synchronization will always be immediate or accurate
- The App will be compatible with all devices or iOS versions
Screen time management features depend on Apple's frameworks and device capabilities, which are outside our control.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Ramses Works shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claims arising from or related to these Terms or the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim.
App Store License
The Applowance application is licensed to you under Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which governs your use of the App itself. These Terms of Service apply to your use of the Applowance service, including chore tracking and family sync, in addition to that license.
Any in-app purchases or subscriptions are processed by Apple as the merchant of record, and the purchase terms are presented in the App before checkout.
Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the updated Terms on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the App or submission of a website form after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you should stop using the App and website forms.
